AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is the advanced form of HIV. All thanks to the advancement in medical sciences, not many people who have HIV develop AIDS as well. AIDS is developed in a person’s body when the HIV weakens the person’s immune system. By this person with HIV is no longer able to protect himself/herself against the disease. A person who is HIV positive, may show symptoms of various infections and diseases called as opportunistic infections. So when an HIV positive person shows the symptoms these infections, he is considered to have AIDS.

Although, it’s not like only people who are HIV positive might get opportunistic infections. Many people who have diseases like Cancer can also get opportunistic infections. When asked about this to Doctor of KRIMS Hospitals (KRIMS Hospitals known as the best hospital in Nagpur), they said that even though people with Cancer can get Opportunistic infections, but that infection is more frequent and serious in people with HIV and could also lead to the diagnosis of HIV of the patients.

One must monitor his/hers general health so one is able to keep an eye on any risks that could be caused because of Opportunistic infections. In the recent times Science has become so advanced that Opportunistic infections could be delayed in a person by the use of prophylaxis and anti-HIV treatment. However till today there is no cure or treatment for HIV although, treatments can slow the course of condition and could make the people infected with the disease live longer. The treatments that have evolved are very much effective and they can also better the patient’s health in general and also his/hers quality of Life to a great extent.
